Redact a PDF

Scan for common PII patterns, review every hit, then burn in black rectangles.

> WHAT_IT_DOESCH 01

Detect common structured PII on every page of a PDF — email addresses, Social Security numbers, phone numbers, credit card numbers, URLs, IP addresses, and dates. Review every match with a visual overlay, exclude anything you want to keep, then burn permanent black rectangles into the output. Form fields and annotations are flattened so nothing hides behind the rectangle. Names, organizations, and addresses are not detected yet — review every page yourself before sharing.

HOW_TO · 04_STEPS
  1. Open the Redact tool

Go to the Redact tool in SealedPDF (Solo or Firm plan).

  2. Upload your PDF

Drop the file into the workspace. The PDF file itself never leaves your browser.

  3. Review the detections

Hover any rectangle to see the match and its sentence. Click to exclude.

  4. Apply and download

Black rectangles are burned into the output; annotations are flattened.

Your file stays on your device

Every other “online PDF tool” uploads your document to a server. SealedPDF does the work in your browser using pdf-lib and pdf.js — you can verify this yourself by opening DevTools and watching the Network tab while you process a file. Built specifically for attorneys who can't ship privileged documents to a third party.
